Originally released in 1999, Soulahula was recorded on 16 track analogue in the style of earlier productions of the 60s & 70s. The rhythm tracks (drums, bass, guitar & keyboards) were recorded live and then vocals & horns etc as overdubs. However, its release in New Zealand coincided with Sam & Trudi's move to live in London, so there was no promotion, no gigs & no publicity or reviews, so the album sank pretty much without trace. On top of this, Sam & Trudi always felt that the finished product did not live up to the master tapes, due to an inferior mastering job. So now, 22 years later, they had it re-mastered by Nick Robbins at Sound Mastering Ltd in London and are giving the world the chance to hear it sounding like it's supposed to.
